Natalie & Cullen

All Kinds of Friends grew from the quiet lessons Cullen has taught me about kindness and connection. As his mom, I’ve watched him show the world what pure kindness looks like—often without saying a word. His way of moving through the classroom, building connections, and finding joy in simple moments has shaped the entire mission behind this work. Cullen also sees the world through the lens of Down syndrome, and that perspective has taught me more about patience, presence, and the beauty of going at your own pace.

As Cullen began his school journey, I noticed how much children naturally want to understand each other—they just need the right tools, language, and guidance. Cullen, opened my eyes to how powerful true inclusion can be when classmates understand and celebrate differences. The mission behind All Kinds of Friends grew from that hope: that he—and children like him—would walk into classrooms where they are not only welcomed, but genuinely understood. I want his classmates to recognize his strengths, his personality, his humor, his heart—and to feel confident engaging with friends who learn, communicate, and connect in different ways. All Kinds of Friends is built on that vision: creating a culture of belonging where every child feels seen.

Our story is shaped by real moments—both the tender ones and the challenging ones. It’s full of moments of growth, advocacy, and resilience. And it’s a story shared by so many families who simply want their children to be seen, supported, and included. Cullen continues to inspire me daily, and it’s because of him—and children like him— that All Kinds of Friends exists.
